Our maxillofacial team treats a variety of conditions including:

Locations

Our consultants see patients in modern and technologically advanced facilities in the heart of London.

Maxillofacial Surgical Services

From routine concerns to rare and complex conditions, our experts offer the latest treatments tailored to your needs.

Head and neck cancer treatments

Our team treats everything from early-stage cancers to advanced tumours requiring multiple types of surgery. Maxillofacial surgeons often operate together to deliver the highest level of care. We also work alongside reconstructive surgeons and ENTs when necessary to restore a natural-looking appearance and optimize function.

We’re one of the few hospitals in the U.K. to offer sentinel lymph node biopsy. If you have early-stage oral cancer, this leading-edge diagnostic test can help us determine if the cancer has spread. Often, this will mean you can avoid major surgery.

Salivary gland treatments

Whenever possible, we use minimally invasive techniques, like sialendoscopy, to help us diagnose and treat salivary gland conditions in the early stages. With this procedure, your consultant uses an endoscope (a thin tube with a camera at the tip) to check for stones and narrowing.

Facial trauma treatments

If you have broken facial bones or severe mouth injuries from a car accident, bad fall or sports injury, we can help. Our maxillofacial surgeons provide prompt assessments and treatments. We can sometimes perform surgery in as little as one business day. Your consultant will discuss the time frame for your treatment and recovery with you and answer all your questions.

Oral surgery with general anaesthesia

If you need surgery and have complex issues like impacted wisdom teeth, facial swelling from dental infections or dental cysts — or if you’re anxious about surgery — you may benefit from a higher level of sedation than what a dentist provides. General anaesthesia may help. We also treat people with medical issues that may complicate dental work (such as being on blood thinners).

If you’re having pain or other dental problems but haven’t had imaging done yet, we can help. Dental X-rays are available at a nearby facility, and we receive the results quickly.

Additional Services We Offer

There are many reasons why you might need maxillofacial surgery. Our team also provides these services for your neck, mouth, face and jaw:

  • Botox® for myofascial pain in your jaw and face
  • Complex jaw surgery for facial asymmetry
  • Nasendoscopy to check the back of your nose, throat and voice box for growths
  • Orthognathic surgery to reposition your lower jaw to treat sleep apnoea
  • Sterilised washouts (arthrocentesis) and other nonsurgical therapies to treat temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders
  • Wide excisions to remove skin cancer on a large area of your face or neck
  • Removing lumps in your mouth
  • Diagnostic biopsy of patches in your mouth or on your face and neck
